HEKSA is a tarp purpose-built for hammocking, designed to provide controlled, reliable coverage in varied field conditions. Its extended ridgeline, raised ends, catenary-cut edges, and hexagonal geometry create a shelter that aligns naturally with the length, sag, and suspension geometry of a hammock system.

FARBA is LESOVIK’s proprietary procedure for constructing camouflage patterns, designed from the ground up as an alternative to the camouflage patterns widely available on the market. Unlike standard military and civilian patterns, FARBA features an exceptionally large repeat (450 x 150 cm, 5x larger than popular military camouflage variants) and a multidirectional pattern architecture, meaning it produces no visible repetition regardless of viewing angle. This approach addresses real limitations that even modern military camouflage patterns run into. The worst example is the Polish “Pantera,” which contains practically every mistake one can make when designing camouflage: a small repeat (the pattern repeats roughly every 30 cm), no micro-pattern, no macro-pattern, and poorly contrasting colors. Contemporary camouflage patterns generally have a larger repeat (typically 150 x 80 cm) and richer structure, but even with this more modern approach, they often lack one or more of the features that FARBA camouflage combines:

  • a massive repeat, meaning in practice there isn’t a single pattern repetition anywhere on the product’s surface. The pattern layout on every single item is unique.
  • a multi-level masking structure suited to observation across a wide range of distances, from a few meters to several dozen meters.
  • a unique super-macro level, forming clusters of more than several dozen centimeters in size.
  • pattern resolution calculated based on the angular resolution of the human eye and the fractal distribution of shapes in the natural environment
  • colors and contrast that are calculated, not chosen: derived from photo analysis, with color contrast calculated using a hierarchical clustering method.

The F1 Frondlair variant, dominated by greens and dark browns, is intended for use in Central European mixed forests, well as dense, low-growing subalpine spruce forests.

HEKSA is a purpose-designed tarp optimized for hammock-based shelter systems, combining refined geometry with efficient field performance. Compared to classic square tarps, it is noticeably lighter, offers a larger effective coverage area, and is faster to set up. Its defining feature is the hexagonal shape with an extended 360 cm ridgelength, specifically engineered to protect the full length of a hammock from wind-driven rain.

With dimensions of 360 × 300 cm, HEKSA provides a spacious and versatile shelter footprint. It allows comfortable cooking, equipment organization, resting, and hammock sleeping. While the size is tailored specifically for optimal hammock coverage, it also enables open configurations. By lifting one side on a pole, the tarp can be transformed into a large, open roof oriented toward the center of the camp, creating a shared, weather-protected workspace.

Thanks to FARBA camouflage pattern, HEKSA blends naturally into natural surroundings, maintaining a low visual profile at camp. The form remains calm and organic, aligning with the environmental approach to functional presence and visual restraint in the field.

6 guylines allow for quick and easy set up of the tarp. To make using the tarp even easier, we have used a system of built-in guyline tensioners. The suspension system is simple, can be operated with one hand, and requires no knots. You just need to steak the guyline to the ground and pull it tight. The guyline tensioner automatically blocks it against loosening. Tree attachment is knotless, thanks to laser-cut ZIPSY mini-hooks.

To increase durability, all corners are reinforced with a nylon–vinyl laminate commonly used in military equipment and whitewater rafts, ensuring resistance to high loads and repeated stress. As part of our environmental responsibility, the reinforcement manufacturing process was changed from laser cutting to machine cutting, eliminating toxic fumes from production.

HEKSA is constructed from lightweight ripstop silnylon with a waterproof rating of 6,000 mm H₂O (manufacturer’s test) — twice the typical industry standard. The fabric is windproof and resistant to mechanical damage, while the ripstop weave limits tear propagation in the event of localized damage, supporting reliable performance during prolonged field exposure. Thanks to a PU coating on one side, a field repairability is ensured with standard patching solutions.

The included instruction manual is color-blind friendly, and the tarp guylines are organized using colored rubber bands corresponding to the manual’s color scheme, supporting clear, error-resistant setup.

HEKSA is awarded as the FINALIST of DOBRY WZÓR 2022 design contest.

Dobry Wzór (polish for Good Design or figuratively Prime Example) is the oldest, most prestigious Polish design award run by the national Institute of Industrial Design since 1993, under the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology. The title Dobry Wzór is granted for exceptional innovations, aesthetics, functionalities and the overall quality.
